These photos were taken from a hill by a lake. I really liked how blue the water looked from up here and there were some really interesting trees and a large variety of other plants on the hill side. The trees on the shore were also leafing out and there photos have a spring theme.
This is a vernal pond, which I think is another great natural sign of warmer weather and spring. We were walking in a forest and these ponds were everywhere, and they were filled with aquatic plants and surrounded by skunk cabbage. I think the green moss and plants contrast well from the brown leafs in the pond.
I decided to photograph this tree by the lake, because I thought the colors of the buds and bark went well together. The white bark contrasts against the clear blue sky. The close up of the trunk, shows all the texture and grooves in the wood.
This spot on the river had interesting branches hanging over the water. The trees across the water were also reflected in the river and I wanted to include that. I think the filters used on the reflection in the left image really achieves the watercolor effect.
These beautiful trees were blooming at the park. I wanted to photograph the trees from below, so the blossoms would be against the sky, elimination other trees or distractions. I think the image on the right captures a lot of the tree, while still retaining fine detail in the petals and branches.
